MAGGIE'S STORY

A lifelong resident of North Bay, Maggie Horsfield has built her career as a leader and public servant known for her steady, solutions‑focused approach. Whether navigating complex issues or supporting community partners through challenging moments, Maggie is recognized for keeping calm, asking thoughtful questions, and fostering an environment where people feel heard, respected, and empowered to work together. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Global Development Challenges from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Political Science and History from Nipissing University. Maggie resides in North Bay’s West End with her family.

 

Currently serving as Deputy Mayor and Councillor for the City of North Bay, Maggie is actively involved in shaping the community. She contributes her expertise to several boards, including the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM), the North Bay Police Service Board (NBPSB), the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB), and Heritage North Bay Board. Her dedication extends further, as she has been Chair of the Lindsay Weld Centre for Children Board of Directors since 2021.

Passionate about fostering a sustainable and vibrant city, Maggie is an active member of Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay and is co-chair for the North Bay Communities in Bloom Organizing Committee again in 2026. She was most recently appointed Chair to the Municipal Heritage Committee for the City of North Bay. Maggie is also proud to support the North Bay Special Olympics Winter Games in 2027, volunteering with a dedicated team to plan the Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as the Medal presentations.

At Nipissing University, she works as the Government and Foundations Relations Officer in the President’s Office, building partnerships that advance educational initiatives. In recognition of her contributions, Maggie was honored with the Nipissing University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2023 and the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year Award in 2020.

Deeply committed to her city and its future, Maggie continues to champion causes that enrich the lives of North Bay’s residents. Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and a belief that even the most difficult situations can be met with clarity, compassion, and collective problem‑solving.
